Deaf Community Picnic and Photo Celebrating 120 Years

On Saturday, 3 December 2011, the South Australian Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community attended the DSRSA Children's Christmas picnic at Deaf Can:Do.
It was a lovely warm day, with a large turnout. A great time was had by all.
 
As a final celebration of 120 years of the Royal South Australian Deaf Society, Deaf Can:Do invited members of the Community to the South Park-lands, where a community photo was taken. The photo replicates a similar photo that was taken in the early 1920's and is now proudly on display at Deaf Can:Do (262 South Terrace, Adelaide).

How YOU can get involved in the 2012 Can:Do Caper - an event like no other supporting Deaf Can:Do!
 
On Friday 19th and Saturday 20th October teams of four representing SA businesses will set off on a two day adventure throughout South Australia. The Caper is one of our biggest events for the year, with funds raised going to both Deaf Can:Do and Can:Do 4Kids. Now in its fifth year, the event promises to be a huge amount of fun, with teams completing tricky challenges and tasks, and solving clues which lead them to their next secret destination!

How you can get involved:
Simply get a team of four together (in most cases teams represent a South Australian business but if you just want to get together with your buddies that’s fine too!)

  • Register via the Can:Do Caper website and you will be sent a Welcome Pack containing all information you need to forge ahead – including a heap of fundraising tips.
  • Start raising funds for Can:Do 4Kids and Deaf Can:Do. This can be a heap of fun – especially if you get your workplace involved and hold one or two events throughout the year.
  • Prepare yourselves… in the lead-up to the race we will send you some hints and tips on how you can best prepare for the race, however let’s be honest – you will never be truly prepared for what we have in store…
  • On Friday 19th and Saturday 20th October you and your team mates will set off on a race like no other – experiencing a myriad of new and exciting things, working together, socialising with other teams and most of all having a ridiculous amount of FUN!
